Coventry Transport Museum is gearing up for its third Cycling Festival this May Bank Holiday (31st May – 6th June). There will be lots of cycling related events including an evening with Graeme Obree, ex-world hour record holder. Check out the museum website for more details (http://www.transport-museum.com/modules/news/newsstory.aspx?n=73&group=Events)
But the highlight of the week will be the Roller Racing on Saturday and Sunday, 5th/6th June. This will be organised by our very own Lance Ravenhill and will take place in front of the Transport Museum. The rollers will be the same as those used on Lance’s recent Club Roller Evening (although the support frames will be available this time!) and the racing will be open to all comers from 9.00am to 6.00pm each of the two days.
Lance is going to need a few helpers for each day, to provide support to inexperienced members of the public who have a go on the rollers, and also to act as timekeepers and recorders, as prizes will be awarded for the best times. Club members can also help by giving demonstrations on the rollers for the benefit of passers-by. You can even have a go at the competition and maybe win a prize!!
This is a good opportunity to promote club cycling (and the Kenilworth Wheelers) so if you would like to help (even for a short time on either day) please get in touch with Lance asap.
